چکیده

The biodegradation of fat, oil, and grease (FOG) is important in water pollution control wastewater management. In this study, the viability FOG-degrading microorganisms on palm oil was assessed. Seven strains capable degrading FOG were isolated from mill effluent (POME). potential bacterial selected based Tween-80-degrading ability. Micrococcus lylae strain DSM 20315 showed highest growth compared to other strains. Hence, it for degradation test. biodegradability performed as a function pH (6, 7, 8), initial concentration (1, 3, 5% v/v), inoculum (2, 6, 10% v/v). Optimization these parameters studied using 2-level factorial design. maximum 68%, obtained at 1 % v/v, 10 v/v. lowest 22%. followed by enhanced removal efficiency FOG, but level did not significantly promote rate. As result, optimum process conditions maximizing %v/v, %v/v. Mikrokokus lilae menunjukkan pertumbuhan tertinggi berbanding lain. Oleh itu, ia bagi ujian degradasi FOG. Sebagai kesimpulan, keadaan v/v

Electrocoagulation of Palm Oil Mill Effluent

Electrocoagulation (EC) is an electrochemical technique which has been employed in the treatment of various kinds of wastewater. In this work the potential use of EC for the treatment of palm oil mill effluent (POME) was investigated. In a laboratory scale, POME from a factory site in Chumporn Province (Thailand) was subjected to EC using aluminum as electrodes and sodium chloride as supporting...

Enhancement of Biodegradation of Palm Oil Mill Effluents by Local Isolated Microorganisms

This study was designed to investigate the microorganisms associated with palm oil mill effluent (POME) in Johor Bahru state, Malaysia. Biodegradation of palm oil mill effluents (POME) was conducted to measure the discarded POME based on physicochemical quality. The bacteria that were isolated are Micrococcus species, Bacillus species, Pseudomonas species, and Staphylococcus aureus, while the f...

A Review of Palm Oil Mill Effluent (Pome) Water Treatment

Palm oil is one of the two most important vegetable oils in the world’s oil and fats market. The extraction and purification processes generate different kinds of waste generally known as palm oil mill effluent (POME). The environmental impact of POME cannot be over emphasized; hence the need for treatment measures to reduce these impacts before discharge. Therefore, this paper reviews the proc...

Biohydrogen generation from palm oil mill effluent using anaerobic contact filter

In this study treatment of palm oil mill effluent was carried out with the intention to produce hydrogen during the anaerobic degradation process. The hydrogen generating microflora was isolated from the cow dung based on pH adjustment (pH 5) coupled with heat treatment (2 h). The microflora was initially tested for its hydrogen generating capability for varying fermentation pH of 4, 5, 6 and 7...
